Utrecht is a city in the central Netherlands that has been a religious center for centuries. It has a medieval old town, canals, Christian monuments and a venerable university.
The city centre has more than just museums and historic buildings, while walking around, the visitor constantly comes across new places, such as hidden courtyards, an enormous diversity of shops, pleasant street café’s and many restaurants.
My daughter and I decided to rent one canoe to experience the peaceful and stunning natural landscape for an unforgettable journey. Renting fee is quite reasonable from €5 pp per hour and for a maximum of €12 pp for a full day. The prices are inclusive of a waterways map and a waterproof bag.
We have chosen a 2-hour water route and kicked off at 9:00 am. Maybe the fabulous city view is too distracting or maybe the canal network is too twisting with turns. We unexpectedly lost our way and spent additional 2 hours to paddle back.
By the time we were back on shore, we were wet, hungry and slightly burned under the sun 🙂
I was still a little delighted for having these 4 hours quietly with my adolescent daughter . I’m not sure I will get the same chance to closely work with her towards the same target.
Life is also with dismay and lost in certain period of time, but what is important is to have the one you love to encourage and embrace each other.
