Yes, this is probably no surprise to anyone and we are all doing the exact same thing!
Sorry, maybe I should take a step back, and elaborate a little more …
I am not talking about investing our hard-earned money into stocks, options or funds; neither am I talking about savings that “x” percentages of hard-earned money and waiting for it to grow over time. I am also not discouraging you to do that either because I still believe some of these are essential.
However, I am referring to that 9 to 5 job, 40 hours a week of hard work, in exchange for the paycheck that brings us “bread to our table”. PS: in case you are thinking about quitting your job after reading this article, please don’t!
Like many out there, we complain about our job being repetitive, labor intensive, low satisfaction, no stability, pathetic wages, and could easily be replaced by “robots” one day; yet, we continued to work in our respective jobs, irregardless whether that goal is even ours from the beginning.
Working is like trading our time for money. It gets us to a certain point and keeps us there because we only have 24 hours a day. The truth is that, we do not need to victimize ourselves any longer, and actually do something about it.
Warren Buffet once quoted, “if you don’t find a way to make money in your sleep, you will work until you die”. I definitely do not want to work till I die, and I believe you wouldn’t want to either. So if you are in with me, please join me to explore what we can do for us (this might not necessarily be the fastest way to earn money, but trust me, it will be “auto-pilot once you get the hang of it).
We all know that the Internet is a powerful tool. It reaches out to billions of people from all over the world every other second. It never sleeps. Even while you and I were sleeping, someone from the other part of the world is still on. How do we leverage on it?
If you realized, not many people read a physical newspapers anymore; not many companies advertised on TV these days too, how does companies market themselves today? Online advertising!
There are 2 very popular ways how people leverage on online advertisers:
- Affiliate Marketing
- Google Adsense
The easiest way to understand Affiliate Marketing is that one promote another person’s “product”, turns that initial “click” into a “sale” and earns a “commission” from that transaction.
Another one is Google Adsense; advertisers pays Google either by the click (PPC) or impression (CPM) when they advertise on Google pages, and in return Google shares a percentage of that with you whether or not it turned out to be a sale or subscription.
Of course, there is a bigger “chapter” behind how these advertising and affiliates works but the take away for you should be knowing what is PPC (Pay Per Click) and CPM (Cost per Impression), because these is going to help you make that extra dollar in our pocket.
